The name Paraty is a synonym of good quality “cachaça” (“Sugar Cane Rum”). The “Festival da Cachaça” (“Sugar Cane Rum Festival”), that happens always in August is the proof of that, being one of the most competitive events of the year.  

Today, the county counts with 7 pot-stills that have the Geographic Indication stamp. This stamp gives Paraty´s “cachaças” the procedence guarantee and the quality control.

Many pot-stills are open to visitors, that can meet the traditional manufacturing process and, surely, enjoy a delicious tasting.
